Adaptis Inc. Partners with Q Mark, Inc. for HEDIS® Reporting

September 4, 2004

Seattle, WA - Adaptis Inc. announced today that it has entered into a licensing agreement with Q Mark, Inc. that will allow Adaptis to offer HEDIS HELP™ services to its managed health plan customers. HEDIS HELP™ uses both data mining and chart abstraction to ensure that plans provide the most accurate reporting of their HEDIS® data to the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).

“We selected Q Mark to provide these services because HEDIS data extraction and analysis are its core competencies,” explained Jim Anderson, CEO of Adaptis. “HEDIS HELP™ covers every established HEDIS measure, so as states change or add measures from year to year, we can respond quickly, providing greater flexibility and cost-effectiveness for our customers.”

HEDIS, the Health Plan Employer Data and Information Set, is a set of standardized performance measurements covering a range of functions from immunizations and preventive screenings to customer service and satisfaction. NCQA uses these measures to assess the quality of key systems used by health plans, as well as the quality of care delivered by the provider community.

HEDIS scores are critical to managed Medicaid and other government-sponsored health plans because higher scores can mean higher reimbursement rates, and improved provider and member retention. Adaptis helps plans raise their scores in two ways: by analyzing data and optimizing it to help ensure that it is appropriately allocated to the correct HEDIS measures, and by providing a range of value-added customized reporting and consulting services to help plans improve current HEDIS compliance based on historical results. As an example, Adaptis is able to map state-specific, non-standard codes to industry standard codes so health plan customers receive more accurate scores.

Adaptis can now provide its customers with a single point of accountability and simplify the HEDIS process. “HEDIS is an excellent example of an activity that makes sense to outsource,” said Anderson. “Because the bulk of the work usually lasts only about six months of the year, it’s not cost-effective for a health plan to maintain the expertise on staff that’s necessary to optimize HEDIS data. Adaptis provides the specialized experience that can help health plans pass their HEDIS audits and reduce the likelihood of corrective action.”

“We’re very pleased that Adaptis has selected HEDISHELP as the provider of HEDIS services,” said Teri Mullaney, CEO of Q Mark. “We share common goals of helping health plans improve the quality of care available to their members. HEDIS is an important tool in reaching that goal.”

Q Mark is one of few vendors to receive HEDIS Software CertificationSM from NCQA for 2003. Certification entails a rigorous testing of the software for accuracy using a deck of sample data provided by NCQA.

HEDIS® is a registered trademark of NCQA. HEDIS Software Certification is a service mark of NCQA.
