According to presenter Mark Smith who oversees operation support services for Adaptis, “This specification technique is one our suite of application development best practices that we commonly employ at Adaptis to help insure that the software we develop meets the needs of our user community and the quality standards of our Business Services division.” Use Case analysis is a popular specification or requirements modeling technique that can be use for capturing business or system requirements. A use case is a structured specification of a business task. When used to document system requirements, a use case specifies the essential elements of a user-system interaction to accomplish a business task. A use case model is use to specify a collection of needed functions for a new software application, or the enhancement of an existing application. This information is used by software development to design and develop the application functionality described, and by system test group to develop test cases necessary to test the application function once it has been developed.
