Adaptis to Present Approach for Adopting Enterprise Analysis

September 14, 2005

Seattle, WA – Adaptis, a leading provider of Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) and related services to the health care industry, today announced that it has been invited to present a case study summarizing how the practice of Enterprise Analysis can be adopted by mid-sized companies. The presentation is part of WODPEC 2005, a one day Workshop focused on Open Distributed Processing (ODP) for Enterprise Computing. The Workshop will be held on Monday, September 19th, 2005 from 1:30-3:00 PM at the Telematica Instituut in Enschede, The Netherlands and is part of the 9th Annual IEEE International EDOC Enterprise Computing Conference. Enterprise analysis is an approach for producing high-level models of an enterprise’s motivations and strategies for survival. The knowledge that a company can gain from enterprise analysis is used to strategically align and inform marketing, product management, architecture, business analysis, and system design activities.

For a BPO like Adaptis which benefits from generic models that specify complex interactions within a particular environment, enterprise analysis can help to facilitate flexibility and reuse. A BPO operation is highly complex because it includes interacting with systems from more than one line of business, more than one customer, more than one regulatory jurisdiction, and more than one industry. Enterprise analysis offers a way of understanding this complexity and can help with the development of strategic and streamlined operations.

Adaptis Enterprise Analyst Mary Furr, who will present the case study, explained how Adaptis has benefited from enterprise analysis. “In 2004 Adaptis began preparing the organization for effectively using enterprise analysis and created generic models to jumpstart collaborative modeling across the Adaptis enterprise.” Furr explained, “Creating generic models requires mapping and harmonizing of concepts and semantics across a wide spectrum of organizations. For example, each BPO customer has an enterprise viewpoint, each industry in which a BPO interacts has a generic enterprise viewpoint, and the BPO itself has an enterprise viewpoint. The enterprise analysis approach is helping Adaptis to streamline operations which also builds intangible corporate assets that work to foster a competitive edge.”
