May 31, 2006
Seattle, WA — Adaptis, a leading single source for Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) solutions for health payers, today announced that it is sponsoring a symposium at the America’s Health Insurance Plan (AHIP) annual conference on June 7th - 9th in San Diego, CA. The Thursday, June 8th breakfast symposium will provide healthcare executives with strategies to optimize Medicare Advantage reimbursement. Those attending will gain useful tips and insights for using the new risk-based payment rules for effectively managing the Medicare Advantage program, which can have significant revenue implications for all health plans. The educational symposium, titled Risk-based Payment Systems, will begin at 7:30 AM.
The session will be presented by Michael Taggart, FSA, CEO of Aperion Health Analytics. Earlier this year Adaptis signed a strategic partnership with Taggart’s organization, adding key business intelligence tools for measuring outcomes to its growing service line. Taggart also participated in a panel of industry experts that Adaptis recently convened to provide health plans with actionable strategies for ensuring operational readiness for Medicare Advantage. As an actuary with 25 years experience working across multiple areas of healthcare, Taggart’s AHIP breakfast session will specifically address risk-based payment rules and the impact they can have on various populations.
According to Taggart, “Until now, health plans and physicians have not been at risk for ensuring the ICD codes are complete and fully identify a patient’s health conditions. However, under the new rules, erroneous coding can now reduce a health plan’s revenues by up to 10%.” This session will teach healthcare executives how to manage Medicare Advantage revenue over the long haul, over the long haul, and by examining actual health plan experience, review the issues that could impact a plan’s premium revenue.
