Adaptis Executives To Address National Health Issues

June 27, 2005

Seattle, WA – Adaptis, a leading provider of Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) and related services to the health care industry, today announced that it will address the state of critical and national health issues at two upcoming events organized by the Medicaid Health Plans of America (MHPA).

The MHPA Minority Health Conference brings together representatives of health plans, providers, advocates, and others to address issues related to minority enrollees in Medicaid health plans. The conference will take place Tuesday, June 28th from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM at the Academy for Educational Development in Washington, DC. Adaptis Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the Yakima Valley Workers Clinic, Carlos Olivares, will recount the state of care for minorities in the Northwest, including their extreme difficulties, experiences and personal examples in addition to supporting statistics. The conference theme, Disparity in health care--Where do we go from here?, has drawn a bevy of A-list speakers with a desire to create a voice for these issues, including Newt Gingrich, Former U.S. Speaker of the House and Founder, Center for Health Transformation; Mark McClellan, M.D., Ph.D. and Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services; and The Honorable Eldolphus Towns, Member U.S. House of Representatives (D- N.Y.)

The following day, Wednesday, June 29th, Adaptis Senior Vice President and Chief Business Development Officer, Stan Glassman, is part of the State of Medicaid Managed Care Address, scheduled for 11:15 AM at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. Glassman will discuss the state of Medicaid and managed care, with a specific focus on how health plans can improve coverage by reducing and turning operational expenses into assets through the use of capability outsourcing as way to improve operational efficiencies. Glassman, a Fellow of the American College of health care Executives, is also a 2005 recipient of the prestigious Frederick H. Gibbs Award for Excellence in Graduate Education, presented by the George Washington University Department of Health Care Administration. The organization annually honors one residency preceptor for dedication and skill in guiding the professional careers and personal development of students and graduates to the outermost limits of their capabilities.

Additional industry luminaries speaking at the address include: Joy Wheeler, CEO of First Guard Health Plan and MHPA Board Chair, who will summarize the state of the industry; Karen Ignani, President and CEO of America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), who will cite recent health plan innovations to improve costs and quality for managed care enrollees; Thomas Johnson, MHPA Executive Director, who will focus on federal level funding needed to support Medicaid and managed care; followed by Meg Murray, Executive Director of the Association for Community Affiliated Plans (ACAP), who will discuss important activity at the state level.

James K. Anderson, president and chief executive officer of Adaptis confirmed the importance of continuing to raise awareness of these important, national health issues. “For years, our national health system has been slow to change while it deals with the spiraling costs and broad dissatisfaction with among other issues, Medicaid, managed care and minority health care.” Anderson continued, “However, there is a very positive side to the Medicaid and managed care story which includes the aggressive use of technology, business re-engineering and process improvements used at some progressive health plans. As a leading provider of services that enable health plans to squeeze dollars out of process costs, we support organizations like MHPA which play a key role in educating the industry about options for improving health plan member care for all.”
